Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR)
Caritas India Sponsored & ABCD monitored CMDRR program is running successfully & the goal is to capacitate total 1,40,691 ( 32899 Families) most vulnerable community members in 60 Gram Sansad areas of Nakashipara Block in Nadia District of West Bengal, India to cope up with adverse situation by taking timely and fruitful action before, during and after disasters like floods and cyclone to reduce the negative impact of them.
Outcome -1 :-
Vulnerable families ensure better protection means in terms of life and livelihood (shelter , food preserve /FSK, crop and animal safety measures).
Outcome -2 :-
Key issues/priorities identified in the micro-plan(including DRR contingencies) get implemented through community, PRI or Government resources/schemes.
Outcome -3 :-
Communities ensure adequate measures for protection/repairing of drinking water sources and safe sanitation for the especially vulnerable groups particularly in pre- disaster seasons.
Outcome -4 :-
Farmers in most vulnerable project areas practice appropriate methods to ensure their subsistence and income from crops/allied practices.
Achievements :-
- 70% families are keeping FSK & CSK
- 60 Task Forces are formed in 60 Sansad 1440 trained task force members are there out of that 576 are female members.
- 60 Village Resource Centers are formed
- 60 Village level Risk Reduction Plan –prepared and submitted to Gram Sansad.
